Moving closer to commercialisation

V-Glass is moving closer to commercialisation as development progresses toward a new approach to high-performance insulating glass. The team is advancing the technology and manufacturing process with a clear focus on turning the concept into a scalable, commercially viable glazing solution. This next stage brings together continued engineering development, performance validation and improvements to the production approach.

Reimagining high-performance glazing

V-Glass is designed to combine the thermal advantages of vacuum-insulated glass with a manufacturing model intended to approach the economics of conventional dual-pane glazing. By rethinking how vacuum glass is produced, the technology aims to address some of the cost and manufacturing barriers that have limited wider adoption of high-performance glazing.

Engineering performance from the inside out

At the heart of V-Glass is a vacuum-insulated architecture designed to significantly reduce heat transfer through the glass. The system also uses narrow internal supports and an inorganic sealing approach, creating a glazing architecture designed to deliver high thermal performance without the traditional thickness and weight penalties associated with higher-performance alternatives. Together, these elements support a cleaner aesthetic and longer potential service life.

Building toward scalable production

As development continues, the focus is increasingly centred on refining the manufacturing process and establishing a pathway toward scalable production. This includes developing production methods that can consistently deliver the required glass architecture while maintaining the performance and quality expected from the technology. The objective is to move beyond laboratory-scale innovation toward a repeatable manufacturing process suitable for commercial applications.

Closing the performance–cost gap

The ambition behind V-Glass is straightforward: make ultra-high-efficiency glazing more practical for the buildings and applications that need it. By targeting a balance between thermal performance, material efficiency, manufacturing economics and long-term durability, V-Glass is being developed to challenge the conventional relationship between higher performance and higher cost.
